Job Description:


Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage Admission process for Home
  • Perform Marketing and Sales functions of Facility

Principal Duties

  • Establish relationships in the community to facilitate admissions and actively pursue admissions through all possible channels.
  • Receive and appropriately respond to inquiry calls in a timely fashion and conduct facility tours.
  • Evaluate referrals for admission, determining clinical and veteran status eligibility and screening of potential residents off-site including at home, acute care facilities, and other locations.
  • Maintains facility wait list according to regulatory requirements and MVH standards. Manages active wait list clients monthly.
  • Documents in CRM all sales and lead activity and management of waitlist, sales, and marketing activities.
  • Reviews CRM dashboard to plan action steps to intentionally strengthen relationships and plan business development activities.
  • Serves as a member of facility A team ensuring client touch point opportunities are maximized and documented in the CRM. Personalizes thank you notes and welcome baskets per MVH standard.
  • Completes financial assessment of potential resident in accordance with MVH policies and procedures. Identifies appropriate payment source and assists admitting resident with payment source application process. Identifies and resolves payment source problems and works collaboratively with Case Manager, Social Services and Business Office to insure that all financial assessment information is completed and documented. Informs necessary parties of financial assessment results.
  • Maintains databases on medical contacts and community resources, referral sources and destinations of referrals not admitted to MVH. Monitor inquiry, admission and census trends. Submit reports as required. Develop action plans based on information to expand referral sources and to maximize referrals/admissions.
  • In collaboration with Administrator and nursing staff, review and address special needs and required supplies of admissions and assure placement of appropriate clinical services.
  • Participate in Utilization Review and confer with Case Manager, Nurse Manager and Social Services in discharge planning.
  • Conduct follow-up survey of residents and/or families after discharge.
  • Make presentations to educate veterans and their families, medical providers, discharge planners, social services staff and the community on MVH services and admissions criteria. Attend appropriate marketing events.
  • Participate in the organization’s and facility’s Marketing committees and coordinate, organize and implement facility’s marketing activities.
  • As assigned, assist Director of Nursing on management issues regarding nursing services policies, regulatory requirements and strategic planning.
  • Complete all administrative responsibilities inherent in the position and as required by MVH policy and procedure in a professional, accurate and timely manner. Support and implement MVH policies, review/analyze as needed and complete reports and other paperwork as assigned.
  • Maintain department documents/records according to Home’s policies and procedures and in compliance with state, federal and VA regulations and accreditation agencies.
  • Organize and direct special projects as assigned and as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by Administrator or DNS.
Required Experience:


Education/Training/Experience:

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid and current RN license by the Maine State Board of Nursing
  • Must possess valid State of Maine driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive professional nursing experience with at least two years of long-term care, clinical and charge experience
  • Skilled nursing care and dementia care experience desirable
  • Experience or training in such areas as health care facility admissions, geriatrics, rehabilitation, education and psychiatric nursing desirable
